The picturesque market town of Malton is the perfect place to enjoy a summer’s day, so we’ve collated our top activities for you to complete your summer bucket list. Read our blog below to plan your visit:

The Malton Food Tour

When you’re visiting Malton this summer, make sure to take the Malton Food Tour, where you can walk and learn all about the local artisan food producers that have collectively gained Malton its food capital status – don’t forget to sample as you go!

There is something for everyone, from coffee to craft brewers, to gelato and pizza, and this tour is the perfect way to sample as much as you can and embrace the foodie culture there.

The tour will take you around three and a half hours, with 10-12 stops across a one mile walk throughout the town, so you will work up an appetite.

Malton Cookery Class

If the Malton food tour has you inspired, then you can discover your inner chef and take a cookery lesson at The Cook’s place. The Cook’s place is Malton’s cookery school that specialises in seafood and baking, and is hosted by Gilly Robinson.

If you don’t fancy getting in on the action, you can still experience dishes cooked by the best Yorkshire talent and book a chef’s table experience instead.

Rare Bird Distillery

At Malton’s Rare Bird gin distillery, you can learn to make gin whilst you’re sampling their strong collection of botanicals – the perfect summer activity in our opinion.

You’ll choose your own botanicals to curate your own personalised gin and then sip away!

See Scampston hall

Luxury doesn’t need to stop after you step out of your suite here at The Talbot hotel, if you make sure to visit Scampston Hall.

Dive into history and take a guided tour of this regency country hall, filled with fine arts and antiques. Or, discover the ‘silent garden’, set within the 18th century walls is a modern garden space curated by Dutch plantsman, Piet Oudolf.

After laying derelict for over 50 years, Piet has brought the walled garden back to life and created a stunning modern escape – the perfect spot to relax on a summer’s day.

Refresh in the café and enjoy afternoon tea or explore the brown parkland walks and scenic views of the rising wolds.

If the Yorkshire Wolds have captured your attention then you can visit Worlds Way Lavender and explore their 12-acre site. Worlds Way has a host of activities and areas for you to explore from nature walks and lavender fields, to a games maze and a tearoom.

Venture on a day trip to York

Malton is just a short drive from the historic city of York, where you can enjoy a stroll around the historic city walls and see the sights.

You’ll pass Clifford’s Tower and the York Minster where you can stop off and explore inside, or you can venture into the centre and step back in time as you visit the Shambles.

From the Railway museum to York maze, York has history in abundance and with that comes a variety of ways to fill your summer’s day!
